WATCH: Peter Casey unveils bizarre campaign ad featuring a shrinking Michael D. Higgins
Peter Casey is coming in for a lot of criticism today.
Presidential candidate Peter Casey has been slammed by all five of his presidential opponents for remarks he made about Ireland's travelling community on an Indepedent.ie podcast.
Now, the businessman is being lambasted for his latest campaign ad, published on Twitter, that features a shrinking Michael D. Higgins.
Complete with a cowboy voiceover and folksy guitar (it seems appropriate to note that Casey has lived a third of his life in America), the ad says: "President Michael D. Higgins — over the past seven years his public appearances have decreased by over 43%. If that rate continues for another seven-year term, Ireland will find itself in a very uncomfortable position. No matter how much yoga we do."
It also features Higgins getting smaller and smaller until he eventually disappears.

Michael D. Higgins is currently polling at 66% compared to Casey's own 2%, according to an Irish Times poll released on Wednesday morning.
Not good news for Casey if those trends continue.
