Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has retired from international football with Bulgaria.
Bulgaria failed to qualify for the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa this summer and Berbatov’s decision comes after 74 international appearances with 48 goals to his credit.
The Bulgaria captain was not forthcoming about his decision to quit at après conference at the Vasil Levski national stadium.
“It was a difficult decision but sometimes we have to take difficult decisions,” he said.
