The senator wanted to ban UFC events in Ireland.
Senator Catherine Noone went on national radio this morning to speak about banning a sport she knows absolutely nothing about.
The sport in question is MMA, and her argument was that the sport was “hideous stuff and I don’t know why we should entertain it on our shores.”
During her interview, we said that she’d never seen a fight, that the winner of the fights are pre-determined, there’s less sportsmanship in MMA than boxing and a few more gems.
Noone has since back-tracked a little by tweeting this.

That’s great, but what about the thousands of people who were listening to Ryan Tubridy’s show that didn’t know anything about the sport, and are not on Twitter.
The problem is some people might have bought into what she was saying, here’s the full interview.
The point is that you shouldn’t go on national radio and make a wild statement like that when you don’t what you’re talking about.
