Dan Carter’s latest training exercise sounds bloody tough

We’re already keeled over and on the verge of vomiting just thinking about it…

We’re already keeled over and on the verge of vomiting just thinking about it…

Fans of all sports often find themselves watching on and thinking that they could do just as good if not better than those taking part, without realising the amount of effort the pros have to put in to reach the top of their game.

In fairness, not many rugby fans think they can match Dan Carter, but just because he’s the best player in the world doesn’t mean he’s spared the hard stuff, as was evident by a tweet he sent out earlier today about an exercise he was about to undertake.

As he subsequently explained to Will Greenwood, all of the 100 metre sprints had to be completed in under 20 seconds and he gets to have a breather of 40 seconds in between each one, 40 seconds which, we’re sure, seems like five seconds at the end of every sprint.

If you thought Carter’s routine was bad, spare a thought for the AFL players, who according to Adam Goodes in response to Carter’s tweet, are put through a tortuous 100 (that’s right, 100) 100 metre sprints with a 40 second turnaround at the end of every pre-season.

Guess this professional sport lark isn’t so easy after all.
