Donegal 1992 All-Ireland winning footballer James McHugh has died after a road traffic collision in Co Cavan yesterday afternoon.
McHugh was in a collision involving a car and a van near Drummallaght on the N3, situated between Virginia and Cavan town. McHugh was in his 60s.
A woman also in her 60s was seriously injured and was airlifted to Beaumont Hospital for treatment. She was thought to be the passenger in McHugh's car.
A man in his 50s, who was the the driver of the van, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
McHugh was in Donegal's 1992 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winning side, playing for the county between 1990 and 1998.
He scored a point in Donegal's 0-18 to 0-14 win over Dublin in the 1992 final, and is brother of football star Martin McHugh.
He also won an All Star in 1992, and won two Ulster Championships in 1990 and 1992.
