English rugby team have given their stadium the worst name ever

Obviously Stadium McStadiumFace was unavailable…

We live in a world where the naming rights for venues can be bought and sold. This is rarely a problem with examples including Kingspan Stadium for Ulster and the Principality Stadium in Wales (formerly known as the Millennium Stadium).

But sometimes, sponsorship can go a little too far.

As is certainly the case for St Helen’s Rugby League team who’ve really taken the biscuit when it comes to naming their stadium.

St Helens’ Langtree Park ground will be rebranded the ‘Totally Wicked Stadium’ after the Super League club agreed a five-year sponsorship deal with the e-cigarette company.

Totally Wicked have previously sponsored the North Stand at the stadium but will take over the principal naming rights of the stadium from the start of next year according to The Guardian.

St Helens will follow the footsteps of several other clubs who’ve signed away the naming rights of their stadiums.

Can you imagine of the GAA decided to sell off the naming rights of Croke Park to a company? We can see it now, Mayo and Dublin running out for the All-Ireland Football Final in the Totally Wicked Stadium.

What a time to be alive…
