The Football Association of Ireland has announced a friendly against Norway at the Aviva Stadium in November.

There had been discussions about a possible friendly against England in Dublin on 17 November but the Association has instead announced a fixture against the Norwegians.

Currently ranked 22 in the world, Norway have a number of players who will be familiar to Premier League fans, including former Liverpool star John Arne Riise, Aston Villa striker John Carew, Blackburn Rovers winger Morten Gamst Pedersen and Fulham star Brede Hangeland.

Egil Olsen’s side failed to qualify for the World Cup finals, winning just two of their eight games in a group including Scotland, Macedonia, Iceland and World Cup semi-finalists Holland.
