In the grand pantheon of greatest ever Irish athletes the name of Katie Taylor will rank very highly and she has just written a new chapter in her already stellar career this morning.
The Bray woman won on her 5th straight lightweight title in South Korea , defeating Yana Allekseevna of Azerbaijan.
The Olympic gold medallist hasn’t lost at these events in 8 years now but the fight against Azerbaijan south paw Yana Allekseevna proved to be a tough one.
Taylor proved to be too good though and all four judges agreed, they scored it 40-36, 39-37, 39-37, all in favour of the 28-year-old from Bray.
