Dublin and Mayo lead the way.

All-Ireland finalists Dublin and Mayo each have 11 players listed amongst the 45 names nominated for the GAA GPA Opel All-Star team.

Despite exiting the Championship at the quarter-final stage, Tyrone are next best with six nominations, followed by Tipperary with five, Kerry and Galway with four apiece, Donegal with three and a single nomination for Clare.

Dublin pair Brian Fenton and Ciarán Kilkenny have both been nominated for Player of the Year alongside Mayo’s Lee Keegan following a meeting of the All-Star selection committee at Croke Park on Wednesday.

Mayo’s Diarmuid O’Connor will be looking to retain the Young Player of the Year award he won last year and will face competition from Tipperary duo Josh Keane and Jimmy Feehan.

The GAA GPA Opel All-Star team will be selected next month by a panel of national Gaelic Games Correspondents. The Players of the Year awards will be voted upon by the players themselves.

The awards will be presented at a special banquet in Dublin’s Convention Centre on Friday, November 4, 2016.
