Here’s how Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff got on taking penalties at Nowlan Park

Would the lads from A League Of Their Own make decent hurlers? Take a look.

The crowd at Nowlan Park weren’t short of entertainment as Kilkenny staged an impressive comeback to edge out Wexford and book a Leinster final date with Galway.

A solitary point was all that separated the sides as a TJ Reid-led fightback helped Brian Cody’s men retrieve a half-time deficit.

The main attraction was obviously the gripping match, but as reported previously, the stars of A League of Their Own were also in attendance as they filmed some footage for their new episodes.

The team captains, Jamie Redknapp and Freddie Flintoff, were paired up with the iconic DJ Carey to film one of the show’s half-time challenges.

The two team captains, along with comedian Rob Beckett, took the BAFTA-winning show to Ireland for the very first time but standing in their way of glory was one of Wexford’s greatest ever goalkeepers, Damien Fitzhenry.

Truth be told, after seeing the footage, Redknapp and Flintoff aren’t too bad – the cricketer can get a far bit of welly on the sliotar –  but we think that the likes of Anthony Nash and Henry Shefflin won’t be worrying about losing their unofficial title of ‘best penalty taker’ anytime soon.

As for Rob Beckett, well…

Take a look.

FYI, the penalty action starts around the 2:30 mark.

Thanks to JOE reader Hugh McMonagle and his girlfriend Maria for sending this footage in.
