We now know the Hurler of the Year too…

In a glittering ceremony held for the first time in Croke Park, the great and the good of the GAA world got together for their annual prize-giving shindig.

We already knew which hurlers made the first XV, but here is the footballers list. All-Ireland champs Dublin top the list with six players, Mayo are next with four while Monaghan and Kerry come away with two players each and finally Tyrone have the one with Seán Cavanagh.

Football All-Stars 2013:

Goal: Stephen Cluxton (Dublin)
Full Backs: Colm Walshe (Monaghan), Rory O’Carroll (Dublin), Keith Higgins (Mayo)
Half Backs: Lee Keegan (Mayo), Cian O’Sullivan (Dublin), Colm Boyle (Mayo)
Midfield: Michael Darragh Macauley (Dublin), Aidan O’Shea (Mayo)
Half Forwards: Paul Flynn (Dublin), Colm Cooper (Kerry), Seán Cavanagh (Tyrone)
Full Forwards: James O’Donoghue (Kerry), Bernard Brogan (Dublin), Conor McManus (Monaghan)

The Footballer of the Year award went to Dublin’s midfield dynamo Michael Darragh MacAuley, beating off team mate Stephen Cluxton and Mayo’s Lee Keegan to the honour.

The Young Player of the Year award went to Dublin’s Jack McCaffrey.

The Hurling awards were also finished up, with Clare’s Tony Kelly beating team-mate Padraic Collins and Cork’s Anthony Nash to the gong.

Finally, the Young Hurler of the Year also went to Tony Kelly of Clare, so a good night for him all round.
