Russia national team coach Guus Hiddink will not take up the top job at Inter Milan next season, his agent has revealed.

The former Chelsea coach is currently under contract with the Russian FA and is scheduled to take over as Turkey boss after the summer.

However, Inter were hoping to convince the Dutchman to locate to Italy instead.

“Inter asked me last week if Hiddink could be a candidate for the Nerazzurri hotseat,” Hiddink’s agent Cees van Niewenhuizen told Italian TV Telelombardia.

“They told me that he was the number one candidate on the list. I replied that it is impossible because Hiddink has only just started his experience with the Turkish federation and he will not go to the federation and ask them to be freed from his contract.

“Hiddink wants to respect his contract. You can never say no, but I believe it is impossible.”

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez and England boss Fabio Capello are now believed to be the front runners to manage the Nerazzurri next season.
