Hurling fans absolutely adored RTÉ's new documentary on the beloved sport
Jaysus, parts of that were too emotional. Great stuff.
As soon as we heard the synopsis and saw the first trailer for The Game, we knew that we were in for something special.
This being said, we didn't expect to be practically bawling after seeing that opening montage!
After the two classic encounters that we saw at Croke Park, the old argument was made again that hurling is the finest sport in the world - each to their own on that point - but after seeing parts of The Game, it's impossible not to feel immense pride at the history of our beloved sport.
Be honest, did you get goosebumps when Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh said: "The dead who shall live forever and the living who shall never die?"
What about Daithi Regan's account of Offaly lifting Liam MacCarthy or Dick Walsh, aged 99-years-old, who has been to every single All-Ireland Final?
These are the stories that make the game so special.
Ladies and gents, this is hurling..and people absolutely loved it.
#TheGame tune in tonight-Congratulations to everyone involved on the production of this superb show 👏👍@RTEgaa https://t.co/vR9UEx90Qs

This must be the best thing RTE has done in years. Outstanding. Makes me regret being shite at hurling even more now. #TheGame

#TheGame is giving me goosebumps. Haven't seen anything quite like this before. Gives a sneak peek into our sporting history, into our communities, into our psyche. Should be shown in every school. If this doesn't win awards I don't know what will. @RTEOne @gerrytweets @CTLFilms

Brilliant telling by @dathiregan86 of Offaly's historic first ever all-ireland hurling victory. Tears will be shed. Proud to have made this series for @CTLFilms @RTEgaa @BroadcastingAut #GAA #TheGame https://t.co/iXLjJbOHER

Christ if that hurling documentary wouldn’t ignite a burning pride inside in you of what it is to be Irish than nothing will #TheGame

#TheGame has me literally shook to tears on the couch. Some may say it's the fear from the weekend. But I reckon it's my love for the GAA. Shivers - Well done to @RTEsport

Such an honour to meet and interview 100 year old Dick ‘of the Church’ Tullaroan who’s been to nearly every All Ireland starting in 1931 #thegame pic.twitter.com/Ejf6q8EWp1

Nail. Head. Hit.
After that weekend of hurling, you'd deserve a slap to be watching Love Island instead of #TheGame ✌️
