Wow. Just… wow.
Earlier this week, Cliftonville Ladies and Northern Ireland international Billie Simpson scored a jaw-dropping stormer as the Reds draw 2-2 with Sion Swifts in Northern Ireland’s Women’s Premiership.
BBC Sports referred to the 26-year-old’s first-time volley from her own half as “surely in the running for the goal of the season award.”
Cliftonville FC – which is apparently Ireland’s oldest football club, fact fans – tweeted about the insanely brilliant goal, saying “when we described Billie Simpson’s goal for Cliftonville Ladies last night as an “outrageous effort”, we weren’t joking.
“This needs to be seen to be believed… and it’s not even the first time she’s scored from inside her own half this season!”
