Jeremy Guscott shows you how to fudge a rugby question

Former England and Lions rugby superstar turned bland TV pundit Jeremy Guscott has the concept of saying everything while saying nothing down to a fine art.

JOE

You’d have to wonder why Jeremy Guscott never went into politics, because the former England and Lions rugby superstar turned bland TV pundit has the concept of saying everything while saying nothing down to a fine art.

Consider the following excerpt from a Q&A on the BBC website earlier this week ahead of the start of the Six Nations this weekend.

It was a good question posted by “Jono”: which one of Brian O’Driscoll, Shane Williams, Chris Paterson and Jonny Wilkinson will be most missed by their country?

Guscott’s reply, though, artfully manages to heap plenty of praise on all those four, while also heaping even more praise on the by then unnamed players who will be filling their boots.

Nicely done, Jeremy. Only, the whole pundit thing, it means you’re supposed to have opinions, right?
