Fairly routine stuff you would say, but the goal was enough to make him Real Madrid’s all-time leading scorer in the Champions League. The goal was his 72nd in the competition as he had already scored 15 for Manchester United and with that strike, he overtook Real Madrid legend Raul in the all-time list.
What’s even more astonishing about Ronaldo’s record is that it was his 57th Champions League goal for Real Madrid in just 57 appearances. Wow.
He currently trails Lionel Messi by a couple of goals on the list of the all-time leading scorers in the Champions League, but we have no doubt that both men will inspire each other to bring the records to a place where they will never be broken.
He was asked recently what was the best goal he had ever scored. His answer?
This one for Manchester United against Porto in the Champions League and what a goal it was…
