Just when you think Paul O’Connell couldn’t be an even bigger legend, he goes and does this…

Paul Moore

What a man.

When he was playing, Paul O’Connell absolutely loved to put the fear of god into his opponents and as we all know, he was bloody good at it.

The former Munster and Ireland second row is currently enjoying his retirement from the game but there’s a reason why the Limerick man will always be held in the highest regard by Irish people and it’s not only because of his inspirational leadership while wearing the green and red jerseys.

O’Connell has always been a gent when dealing with Irish rugby fans. For example; he’s happy to pose for selfies, wish newlyweds all the best on their wedding day and photobomb people on the train.

JOE reader Laura Kelly tells us that she decided to head down to the pub to watch Ireland’s Euro 2016 match against France but before heading out,  she left her car at a friends house. After watching the boys in green, Laura left the pub and tried to hail a taxi alongside her son.

It seemed that Laura’s best efforts to get a taxi were going to be in vain until a car pulled over to the side of the road. The driver instantly offered the two of them a lift and Laura’s jaw nearly hit the floor when she found out who the kind-hearted driver was.

It turns out that it was none other than Paul O’Connell! Speaking with JOE, Laura says that the Munster and Ireland legend was full of chat about Martin O’Neill’s men and that he was also very interested in hearing about her son’s recent graduation.

What a lovely gesture from an absolute gent.
