“Go Wes, go Wes Hoolahan”.
If Ireland playmaker Wes Hoolahan wasn’t already a fan favourite, then his goal against Sweden at Euro 2016 has solidified his status as an Irish footballing hero.
The crowd went understandably nuts after the former Shelbourne player’s brilliant finish against the Swedes, and the midfielder came out as a shining light in what was a disappointing result in Paris.
Nevertheless, the love-in for Wes has been felt throughout the nation on Tuesday, with Irish comedian PJ Gallagher taking the opportunity to pay tribute to Hoolahan along with co-presenter Damian Farrelly on 4FM.
