Jordan Henderson has been confirmed as the new Liverpool captain

Jordan Henderson is the new captain of Liverpool Football Club.

It’s been a meteoric rise through Liverpool’s ranks for the English international, who was made Liverpool’s vice-captain after the club lost both Jamie Carragher and Daniel Agger at the end of the 2012/2013 season.

Henderson committed his long-term future to Liverpool earlier on this year, signing a five-year contract with the Merseyside club that will keep him there until he’s in his thirties.

Henderson was signed by Kenny Dalglish in the summer of 2011, which makes him Liverpool’s third most senior player after Lucas Leiva and Martin Skrtel – both of whom have been touted as candidates for the vice-captaincy along with Mamadou Sakho, who captained his former side PSG.
