Tottenham’s Jamie O’Hara is contemplating the possibility of switching his international allegiance to the Republic of Ireland.

O’Hara, who spent the majority of last season on loan at relegated Portsmouth, has represented England at under-21 level in the past.

However, he is eligible for Ireland through Fifa’s parentage ruling and he admits he is considering making himself available to Giovanni Trapattoni.

He said: “I’ve always loved playing for England so I wouldn’t want to upset anyone or disrespect the Ireland people as well, because I’ve got a lot of family in Ireland.

“ It’s going to be a difficult decision to make and I don’t want it to become a big deal in a way.”
