Pic: Colm Parkinson’s proposals for a revamped All-Ireland Championship are well worth a look

There's no denying it, at no point in the last few years have calls for a restructuring of the All-Ireland Football Championship as it currently stands been louder than they are right now. Everybody's been adding their two cents to the debate, including our good selves and our good brothers at SportsJOE and Jim McGuinness in today's Irish Times. On Newstalk's Off the Ball this evening, GAA analyst and former Laois footballer Colm Parkinson put forward his proposals. Basically, he would turn the season as it stands on its head, with the provincial Championships kicking off the inter-county season and the National League (albeit in Championship form) taking place during the summer months. Parkinson discussed his proposals on The Pat Kenny Show (listen here) and again on Off the Ball this evening and below is a basic breakdown of what he was talking about. Although it doesn't mention it in the graphic, meanwhile, Colm proposed that the All-Ireland Finals take place in early-mid August and that club championships could take centre stage throughout the country once they have been completed and even earlier in counties that have been eliminated from the Championship at that stage. https://twitter.com/offtheball/status/608358218813853696 It's as good as anything we've heard so far, that's for sure.
