The January transfer window is so open right now that it’s hinges are probably creaking; cue Jim White rushing to its aid with a bottle of WD-40.

Everton right-back and former Sligo Rovers defender Seamus Coleman’s name is one that constantly appears in the papers as he’s continuously linked with a move away from Goodison Park, with Manchester United and Arsenal apparently leading the chase.

We think it’s fair to assume that most football journalists would know a fair bit about the rampaging right-back by this stage.

We’re able to admit that we’ve made mistakes before and will again but this one is just so blatantly obvious, especially since the Donegal man has more than 20 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Maybe the writer of this piece just hasn’t had his early morning cup of coffee yet or perhaps he’s trying to add a few extra millions onto Coleman’s fee with the so called ‘additional’ costs when clubs buy Irish British players.
