Pic: The Sundae Game: Incredibly sound GAA club manager in Cork organises ice-cream van for players after training

It was the least they deserved after running around cones and flaking each other for an hour and a half.

Now that summer’s truly over and the evenings are drawing in, it can be a challenge for GAA club managers to get their players to training and incentives are often required to keep the numbers up. With that in mind, Paraic Browne, manager of the Ballygarvan GAA club in Cork, arranged for an ice-cream van to arrive after training last night and provide a well-deserved treat for the lads, who are still competing in the Cork Junior Championship.

  Some might argue that a cuppa soup and a sandwich might have been more appropriate at this time of year but fair play to Paraic for rewarding his players for their efforts all the same, it was a lovely touch. You’d imagine that they'll be celebrating with something stronger than ice-cream if their Championship campaign proves successful; liquid lunches rather than solid Brunches will probably be the order of the day.
