Pic: Very interesting graph comparing the daily routines of GAA players to athletes in other sports

Ever wonder how Conal Keaney’s daily routine compares to that of Yaya Toure? Well wonder no more.

Ever wonder how Conal Keaney’s daily routine compares to that of Yaya Toure? Well wonder no more.

The more professional GAA has become in recent years, the more eager GAA fans are to compare how those who play our native games weigh up against the cream of the crop from professional sports right throughout the world.

Thanks to an increase in the use of statistical analysis in the GAA of late, we are beginning to get a better idea all the time and after producing a graph comparing the distances covered by GAA players with athletes in other sports a few weeks back, stats man Ray Boyne (who worked with the Dublin footballers for the best part of a decade and has a wide range of experience from elsewhere) has come up with another fascinating comparison between the GAA and other sports.

This time, he has analysed the daily routine of the likes of Dublin hurler Conal Keaney and Dublin ladies’ footballer Niamh McEvoy alongside the routines followed by Tom Brady, Serena Williams, Dwayne Wade, Dan Carter and Yaya Toure on a daily basis.

Yet again, the graph makes for very interesting reading and is an insight into the dedication of top GAA players around the country and, as was pointed out by GPA National Development Officer Tomás Colton on Twitter, the graph would be even more revealing if the white boxes under the GAA players were filled with the work or study they are required to carry out on a daily basis.

Excellent stuff as usual from Ray Boyne, who regularly posts this sort of material on Twitter and is well worth a follow over here.
