Pubs to open early in Kerry on Sunday for Munster football finals

Carl Kinsella

Gardaí have confirmed that pubs in Killarney will be opening early on Sunday morning for Munster minor and senior football finals.

According to a report in the Irish Mirror, an application made to Killarney’s District Court has requested permission to open all pubs in the area for 10am. While this request was rejected, a compromise was reached and bars will be allowed to open and serve alcohol from 11am tomorrow.

Fans will converge on the town’s Fitzgerald Stadium for 12pm, when the minor final between Kerry and Clare will start. However, many fans won’t have tickets for the games themselves and will have to be provided for by local publicans.

Luckily, the District Court has allowed for pubs in the area to facilitate fans from Kerry, Cork and Clare and fans will be able to whet their whistles from an hour before the day’s games start. The senior final, between Kerry and Cork, will start at 2pm.
