Sligo Rovers has agreed to host a BreastCheck clinic at their home ground after the clinic couldn’t find a suitable location in Sligo Town.

The League of Ireland club announced the offer in a statement on their website this Friday.

“After learning of the issues of not being able to find a suitable spot, the Sligo Rovers committee agreed to offer the use of The Showgrounds for the clinic which will take up the location at the end of this month.

“The club are aware that medical facilities in Sligo are of huge importance to public and as such we are delighted to host this mobile unit.

“This is part of the ethos of the Sligo Rovers – where our role is not just as a football club- but as an asset to the community of Sligo.”

The clinic will be in operation from the end of July and through the next six months.

Sligo Rovers chairman Martin Heragthy said: “The club’s committee were delighted to approve this development.

“The Showgrounds is a place for the people of Sligo – and sometimes not just in sport. We will continue to strive to achieve our goals in the community. We receive significant financial backing from the public and know that arrives not just for the benefit of on the pitch, but off-the-pitch as well.”
