Tea, Atomic Kitten & Pierce Brosnan: JOE spins the Tombola of Truth with Monaghan’s Conor McManus

Tea, Atomic Kitten, Pierce Brosnan and more

Joe Harrington

Next up on the JOE Tombola of Truth.

The JOE team has come up with 50 questions which are conveniently numbered 1-50. Impressive, we know.

These are random questions about life, sport, music, movies, craic and the rest of it. Anything goes.

We give the interviewee various different attempts at spinning the JOE Tombola of Truth and, depending on which number is pulled out, we ask the corresponding question.

The latest person to step up to the JOE Tombola of Truth is Monaghan’s free scoring forward Conor McManus.

JOE: How much does a sliced pan cost?

Conor: Jesus, normally the mother buys the sliced pan. €1.20? It must be in and around that. (RRP of a sliced pan is actually €1.50)

JOE: What’s the last thing you had a dream about?

Conor: The last dream I had was on Sunday night. I was supposed to get up for the Conor McGregor fight but slept in, and I dreamed that he lost the fight and I was somehow involved in it. Thankfully it was just a dream.

JOE: What’s your worst habit?

Conor: My snoring was the thing that most people complained about, but I had a nose operation a few years ago so it’s grand now.

JOE: What’s the worst food you’ve ever eaten?

Conor: I just can’t take the seafood stuff at all. Prawns, fish or anything like that is not going to happen. I had prawns one time and they were gone off or something, and ever since I can’t go near them.

JOE: How do you take your tea?

Conor: I wouldn’t be a massive tea drinker but when I do have a cup, I take it strong with a small drop of milk.

JOE: If you’re going on holiday, what are the three things you have to take with you?

I have to take the phone and hope there’s a half decent internet connection, the credit card and a football.

JOE: What’s the most embarrassing song you have on your Spotify or iTunes or phone?

Conor: I actually went on a deleting spree the other day. Hang on, I’ll have a scroll through here… Okay, I found one. Atomic Kitten – ‘Whole Again’ but I didn’t upload that.

JOE: Yeah, sure you didn’t… what’s your go-to joke when someone puts you on the spot?

Conor: I don’t have one. I actually don’t have one. I need to get a go-to joke.

JOE: Well, you could probably just show people your music collection and that’d get a laugh so don’t worry about it. Next question, have you ever walked out of a film?

Conor: I have actually, The Last King of Scotland. I couldn’t hack it.

JOE: Finally, on a scale of 1 (Pierce Brosnan) to 10 (Dáithí Ó Sé), how Irish is your accent?

Conor: Ah I think I’m more well spoken like Pierce, I’d come in around two or three.

Funny, I used to go to college with a few boys from Cavan, they couldn’t understand what I was saying and I couldn’t understand what they were saying. I still think I’m a wee bit more refined that Dáithí.
