You would like these players in your side.

The transfer window is opening soon as agents and clubs begin their intricate discussions about their summer targets.

There’s bound to be some expensive new signings announced over the next few weeks but we can already predict the sagas that are going to dominate the news throughout the summer.

Forget all about Zlatan to Man Utd or Mata’s exit to anywhere, here’s what’s really going to happen.

Longford Town are going to smash their transfer record by bringing in Lionel Messi from Barcelona. It’s reported that the Argentinian genius fancies a move to the Midlands after becoming disillusioned with life in Catalonia and that ‘Da Town will spend €210m to get their man.

Another La Liga star will be joining a League of Ireland side because after winning another Champions League with Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo now feels that he has achieved all of his ambitions at the Bernabeu and is looking to get into management. CR7 reckons that the position of player-manager at Bray Wanderers is the perfect place to start his managerial career and that a move to the Carlisle Grounds is too good an opportunity to turn down.

Both clubs will be spending over €340m on the Ballon D’or winners, as revealed in this graph below.

Using a variety of indicators, variables and traits, the people at the CIES Football Observatory have summarised that these are the 20 most expensive players in football.

Cha-ching.
