If anything shows the growing legitimacy of mixed martial arts as a top-tier sport, it's in the advances of the medical assistance fighters receive during and after their contests.
"Doctors are on the ball all the time and ready to do a procedure if needs be," says Glenn Ellis from Code Blue - Event Medical Support.
Speaking at BAMMA 26, the first MMA event in Ireland since the tragic death of Joao Carvalho, Ellis told Noel O'Keeffe about the extensive measures that have been put in place to make sure that medical assistance at mixed martial arts events are second to none.
"We have made MMA in Ireland one of the safest places (in the sport)."
