Video: At long last we have a decent Dublin All-Ireland final song

Penned by the veteran songwriter Derek Warfield, we can imagine this being belted out on Jones’ Road on Sunday.

Penned by the veteran songwriter Derek Warfield, we can imagine this being belted out on Jones’ Road on Sunday.

Dublin have lagged way, way behind their western rivals in the All-Ireland song stakes this September. But, in a late rush that would put a Hill 16 regular to shame, they are starting to come in now (we joke, we joke).

The clear leader so far is this effort by Derek Warfield and the Young Wolfe Tones. Derek, a founder member of the original Wolfe Tones, knows his way around a tune and this effort, Jacks and Mollys, is a catchy number that focuses more on the semi-final win over Kerry than the upcoming clash with Mayo.

Still, it makes Kevin McManamon a key part of the chorus, which is the least the greatest GAA sub in the business deserves.
