Video: Brian O’Driscoll recreated THAT famous pass to himself on BT Sport tonight

Eight years on and it’s still as good now as it was then. Class.

Eight years on and it’s still as good now as it was then. Class.

Of all the ridiculous moments of skill that Brian O’Driscoll produced throughout his career, the pass to himself while playing for Leinster against Ulster in the Magners League in 2006 probably stands out above the rest.

We should point out that we have a particular fondness for this moment of magic he produced in training on the 2013 Lions Tour but that wasn’t in a game so it doesn’t count.

O’Driscoll recreated the pass in his new role as a pundit on BT Sport tonight and he revealed that it wasn’t just a spontaneous moment of magic.

It was, rather, something that he and Denis Hickie had discussed as something that might work on the basis of Ulster’s defensive system at the time and Tommy Bowe’s role in that system.

Using Luther Burrell as Tommy Bowe and an audience volunteer as Denis Hickie, O’Driscoll did it all over again this evening and it looked as great tonight as it did back then.

In case you’ve forgotten the original, meanwhile, here it is one more time, for old times’ sake.
