Hats off to Quality Street, this is, well, quality.

One of the catchiest songs of recent years, Bastille’s Pompeii was always ripe for a sporting rip off. With a refrain that is built for terrace chanting, the folks in Quality Street have spotted that it fits ‘Mayo’ perfectly, and a great All-Ireland song was born. We also have to say that the line ‘And Donegal came tumbling down in the city of the Dubs’ is close to bloody genius. Add in a frequent mentions of that most special of years to Mayo folk, 1951, and we have another classic. We surely have enough good Mayo songs now for an album. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ekEa2IbIbQ As for Dublin, well, let’s just say we are very disappointed in you so far... Thanks to Gerry Heneghan from the band for sending it our way too.
