Video: Corkman Jamie Wall takes massive steps towards recovery

We've a lump in our throat

Tony Cuddihy

We have a serious lump in our throat after seeing this.

Jamie Wall has been confined to a wheelchair since last year when a back ache turned out to be an epidural abscess that, after surgery, led to him losing the use of his legs.

Jamie, who was one of the Rebel county’s most promising dual talents, spoke to us last month as he detailed how he was coming to terms with the situation.

“I never have one day that is a total down and I never have one day totally good. It’s just acknowledging where you are right now and being pragmatic about it but being positive about the future and saying “Its not over yet”, you know?”

But the Kilbrittain club man has proven that his rehabilitation is gathering momentum with a fantastically inspiring video that he uploaded to his Instagram account last night which showed that he is well and truly on his way back.

And we also saw that he lost none of his sense of humour as he included the captionIf the draw is kind I should make the 4th round of Championship. #GAA Little speed wobble but we got there. #Ekso #Walk #SCI

It’s early doors but we can quite easily say that this has made our weekend.
