It might not reach a ‘Dancin’ at the Crossroads’ level of exposure but we can see this catching on if Monaghan go on a decent run in the Championship this year.
The world of GAA songs is a very unpredictable one indeed. Every once in a while, a real gem like the aforementioned ‘Dancin’ at the Crossroads’ comes along but then you can be pretty much guaranteed that a real dud like ‘Mayo are Back’ will arrive without fail from some county or another every summer.
The latest effort, a tribute song to the Monaghan footballers titled ‘Here we Go’ to the tune of ‘Let it Go’ from the Disney movie Frozen, definitely belongs in the former category and although she’s only eight years old, Lily Devlin sounds like she’s been singing for years.
The song was sent into us by Lily’s uncle Greg Devlin from Emyvale, who told us that Lily wanted to write and record a song ahead of Monaghan’s clash with Donegal in the Ulster Final on Sunday and came up with this cracking effort.
Lily should be warned that there’ll be nothing Disney about the clash in Clones on Sunday – if anything, it’ll be like something out of the book of Quentin Tarantino – but there’s a good chance we’ll be hearing this number quite regularly for as long as Monaghan can remain in the Championship.

Hat-tip to Greg Devlin for sending this one our way
