Video: Entire Louth club GAA team visit injured team-mate in hospital and present him with the cup after Leinster title success

No team-mate left behind. This is just fantastic.

Louth outfit Sean O’Mahony’s captured the Leinster Intermediate football title with victory over Ballinlough of Meath on Sunday afternoon and as you’d expect from a provincial decider, it was a hard-fought battle with the Louth men eventually prevailing by three points. During the course of the game, Louth county star John O’Brien – an All-Star nominee in 2010 – copped a heavy knock but soldiered on until the final whistle, following which he was brought to hospital for treatment on a wound that required 12 stitches. O’Brien didn’t get to join in the celebrations immediately but he needn’t have worried because his team-mates brought the party to him while he was still in hospital. A sizeable crowd that must have consisted of everyone on the panel and then some descended on his hospital bed to present him with the Leinster Intermediate trophy and the trophy the club received for winning the Louth county title earlier on in the year. As well as that, they regaled him with a song that’s obviously unique to the Sean O’Mahony’s club and while he might have still been hurting from the knock, John certainly seemed to get a great kick out of the impromptu visit. http://youtu.be/-7jm6BTmgoQ This kind of thing is what the GAA is all about.
