The lads at Impact Gumshields were so determined to prove the quality of their product that they invited Ian Madigan to fire a ball firmly into one of their faces. It was a decision they would live to regret.
We’re sure James Murphy, co-founder of Impact Custom Fit Gumshields, would have had a fair idea of the level of pain he would experience after asking Leinster and Ireland out-half Ian Madigan to throw a ball at his face from a short distance away, but we don’t know if he would have expected what actually happened.
The gumshield ended up being tested alright, but only in how it withstood James biting down on it with severe force after Madigan threw a curveball and fired it straight at his groin, a pain that as all men know, is horrendous to experience but almost always amusing to watch as long as you’re not involved.
