Joe Schmidt hopes to see Paul O’Connell back playing rugby soon, and believes he will return to the Irish set-up at some point in the future.
Speaking on Friday’s night’s Late Late Show, the Irish head coach Joe Schmidt explained to Ryan Tubridy why O’Connell was so pivotal to the Irish cause.
Schmidt also committed his own future to Ireland despite our Rugby World Cup quarter-final exit to Argentina last Sunday.
“It’s an ability to lead men without saying too much,” he said of the iconic number five.
“Paul is very much the axle that the hub turns on. We certainly haven’t seen the last of him involved in some way with an Irish team in some way, I hope.”
