Video: Surfing this MASSIVE wave in Sligo on Monday earned a British surfer an award nomination

Spectacular stuff.

One of the by-products of the stormy weather that hit Ireland this week was the massive waves that crashed in off the Atlantic.

While most mere mortals wouldn’t dare go within an inch of the ocean in such conditions, it was perfect for surfers with the balls to take on nature at its most frightening.

A gang of said surfers travelled to Mullaghmore in Sligo, where, on Monday, Andrew Cotton from Devon rode a wave so spectacular that it has earned a XXL Big Wave Awards nomination for 2015 Billabong Ride of the Year.

As you can see, the nomination was well deserved.
