The Spaniard’s most notable contribution last season was an ill-advised corner in the defeat to Chelsea last month, but he made a positive impression on Irish-based Liverpool fans with the opening goal in the Reds’ clash with Shamrock Rovers at the Aviva Stadium.

Aspas’ finish was tidy enough but Jordan Ibe played the biggest role, powering down the left wing before making it easy for his team-mate to stick it past Barry Murphy in the Rovers goal and give Liverpool the lead.
