The Womble is the real winner…
Liverpool booked their place in the next round of the FA Cup after beating AFC Wimbledon 2-1 in a very entertaining cup tie.
Steven Gerrard, you may have heard his name mentioned this week, scored twice as he gave Liverpool fans a brief glimpse at what they might be missing next season but the Reds icon was almost upstaged on his first match since announcing his decision to leave Anfield by Wimbledon’s mascot, the Womble.
The hosts touching tribute to the Hillsborough victims before kick-off was very moving but the mascot also inspired one of the best terrace chants that we’ve heard in a while.
The Reds icon probably won’t hear this in the MLS.
