We suspected that the Newcastle United striker was going to hear from the FA after this…

There’s rarely a dull moment when Newcastle United are playing and their 3-2 win over Everton at St. James’ Park was arguably the most exciting game over the festive period so far.

Kone gave the visitors the lead before the hosts struck back but Roberto Martinez will definitely not be pleased after seeing this footage which shows the Everton right-back getting struck in the jaw.

To add insult to injury for Everton fans, Cisse equalised for the hosts before Perez and Colback increased their lead.

Kevin Mirallas’ 84th minute goal ensured a frantic finish at St. James’ Park but this elbow on the former Sligo Rovers defender is definitely the main talking point.

UPDATE:

The FA have since charged Cisse with violent conduct and released a statement saying:

“Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse has been charged with violent conduct by The FA.

This follows an incident during the Premier League game with Everton at St. James’ Park on Sunday 28 December. The incident was not seen by the match officials but was reviewed on match footage by a video review panel. The charge carries a three game suspension. The player has until 6pm on Tuesday 30 December to respond to the charge.”
