WATCH: Sonny Bill Williams’ method of training while in a protective boot is genius

Conor Heneghan

This man is one tough bastard.

You may have noticed in the past, but we’re big fans of Sonny Bill Williams in these parts.

In the last year alone, we were as impressed as anyone when he gave his World Cup medal to a young fan after the All Blacks retained their title in Twickenham last November and when he lent a hand at a Syrian refugee camp in Lebanon on behalf of UNICEF.

In fact, we went all out and listed a whole bunch of reasons why we admire him so much.

Sonny Bill represented the New Zealand sevens team at the Olympics in Rio last month and unfortunately suffered a partial rupture of his Achilles while doing so.

It’s a nasty injury and will likely keep him sidelined until the end of the year, but while most mere mortals would be happy to put the feet up and rest, Sonny Bill is determined to keep his strength up.

On Thursday, he posted a video illustrating how he’s still managing to work out despite having his left foot encased in a protective moon boot, which he strapped to a long skate board so he can work up a sweat at the rowing machine.

Genius.

What an absolute beast.
