Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly attempting to sign Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer.

Today’s Daily Mirror speculates Wenger’s interest in the 37-year-old Australian following his heroic performances which helped the Cottagers reach the Europa League final last season.

Wenger is on the lookout for a low priced goalkeeper after snubbing AZ Alkmaar’s Sergio Romero and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Andriy Pyatov due to their high price tags.

Schwarzer leaves for the World Cup in South Africa with the Socceroos today and has gone on record as saying he wants to play into his 40’s.

“”I want to keep going as long as I can. As long as I’m enjoying it, and able to play at this level, why not?”
