This movie’s going to be a heavy-hitter.
10 days before the beginning of the 2015-2016 NFL season, the trailer for Will Smith’s movie ‘Concussion’ has been released.
Will Smith plays Bennet Omalu, the doctor who discovered that playing in the NFL hugely increases the risk of developing chronic traumatic encephalopathy as a result of repeated blows to the head.
Omalu has faced great resistance from the NFL, so Hollywood’s choice to shine a spotlight on this controversy is likely to amplify awareness of the condition and the risks that come with playing professional American football.
The movie itself looks intense and dramatic, and from the two-minute clip it seems like we can expect a powerhouse performance from Smith.
