Video: Mountain biker’s journey cut short by collision with galloping deer

A mountain biker might expect a loose rock or a stray branch to put them off their stride, but there’s not much they can do when a deer comes galloping across their path at a frightening speed.
That’s the sight that encountered Jeff Plassman at Monster Cross 2013 in Chesterfield, Virginia at the weekend and as there was no way that the deer was going to divert his route at that late stage, there was little he could do but brace himself for the thundering collision that followed.
The full force of the collision was captured by Plassman on his Go-Pro camera and although it didn’t look pretty, the deer appeared to continue on its way afterwards, while Plassman commented under the video on YouTube that although he was “busted up a little”, he’s sustained far worse injuries on the bike.
It’s not quite on the level of the epic Man v Deer fight we featured on the site last week, but it’s still pretty scary stuff all the same.
