Abercrombie & Fitch have an odd way of disciplining their staff

We all know that Abercrombie & Fitch have some…questionable practices when it comes to how they treat their employees.

In the past the company has been accused of discriminating against African Americans, Asian Americans, Muslim people and pretty much everybody who applies for a job unless they’re good looking. Put it this way, if you can give the Fassbender a run for his money in the face/body department – you’ll be sorted.

However the Irish Daily Mirror reports that the clothing company has come under fire yet again, this time for its controversial (and illegal) methods of punishing staff.

According to reports, one Abercrombie & Fitch store has been accused of allegedly punishing staff who make mistakes by making them do Army-style exercises. Really.

Apparently male employees are forced to do 10 press-ups for every error they make and women were given 10 squat thrusts, a staff union has claimed.

The manager at the store in question told staff in an email that the crazy punishment would ensure that that “we will learn more from our mistakes” – and we thought getting a sarcastic comment from your manager was bad...

An ex-employee who worked in the store, which is believed to be based in Milan in Italy, has said that workers were forced to perform the exercises in front of a manager.

“It works like that, take it or leave it,” he said.

But CGIL, the union that represents Abercrombie & Fitch Workers, has spoken out and formally complained against the unorthodox practice.

“Female staff are told to scrub off excess make-up and men with stubble are sent home to shave,” they said.

Abercrombie & Fitch, which is known for its use of young, attractive, half-naked male shop assistants was unavailable for comment last night. They were probably outside making their staff run laps until they collapsed…
