Add some tech to your morning brew with the new smart coffee cup

If you're anything like JOE, then you get up a few minutes extra early in the morning, grind your coffee beans and brew yourself up the perfect cup of joe to take to work with you to start your day the right way. Of course, the mug that you bring to work is a pretty standard one, so long as it keeps the coffee from spilling we're pretty happy, but what if you could add a little tech-based spice to the whole thing? Well with the new smart coffee cup, you can. The cup has been developed by TBWA\Helsinki in association with Paulig Muki, some fancy Finnish coffee makers, and it's a re-usable coffee cup that makes drinking coffee a "social media experience". Using some fancy techno-gadgets on the inside, it converts the heat from your coffee into electricity that’s used to power an eInk display, controlled via a mobile application where you can upload pics, or choose shots from your Instagram that will then appear on the display at the front of the mug. The picture even stays on the mug after it runs out of battery, which is a nice touch. Now, we already have plenty of gadgets, not all of which are actually any use to us, but when it comes to ridiculous tech that we didn't know existed but now simply must have, this tops the list, satisfying the coffee hipster and tech geek in us.
