Those with an intimate knowledge of FIFA will probably have a good idea of who this is…

The name Adebayo Akinfenwa might not ring a bell with a lot of football fans, but to the many, many FIFA die-hards out there, he’s kind of a big deal, ‘big’ being the operative word here.

The burly AFC Wimbledon striker, known as ‘Beefcake’ to his teammates (we probably wouldn’t say it to his face if we met him on the street) has been named as the strongest player in FIFA 15, an accolade he also earned last year with FIFA 14. Just as he was in the last game, Akinfenwa has been given a strength rating of 97, putting him ahead of stellar names such as Hérold Goulon of Polish side Zawisza Bydgoszcz and Felipe Baloy of Monarcas Morelia in Mexico.

While Akinfenwa – who’s just short of six foot and 16 stone – will be happy with maintaining his status as the strongest player around, he might be a bit miffed that EA don’t appear to have improved his other personal attributes despite a personal plea from the man himself earlier this year. In fact, his overall rating has gone down by a single point from 63 to 62, a stat that, as FIFA gamers well know, can make all the difference.

In normal circumstances, we might be persuaded to give Adebayo a bit of good natured ribbing over the downgrading but would you try slagging off this fella?

We didn’t think so.
