Bring on the pain!

Released on 27 October, Assassin’s Creed: Origins arrived on PS4 and Xbox One to some fantastic reviews.

This week, Ubisoft announced that the launch sales of Origins were double that of the previous Assassin’s Creed entry, Syndicate.

The once flailing franchise now looks stronger than ever and primed for a proper comeback, and one of the ways that Ubisoft are planning on keeping it that way is with some free downloadable content, with the first of those arriving today.

Yep, if you hop on to the game right now and look for the battle marker on your map, you just need to head toward the beam of light when you’re in that area.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll find yourself face-to-face with Origins’ first mega-boss, Anubis, the ancient Egyptian God of death.

Ubisoft had this to say about the new challenge: “This ancient deity has sprung from a glitch in the Animus, and is eager to guide Bayek’s soul to the afterlife, unless you defeat him.”

This represents the first Trial Of The Gods within the game, and will run until Tuesday 14 November, and you can attempt to defeat the evil giant as many times as you need to.

If you do complete the task, you’ll be gifted with a exclusive god-themed weapon, and players who are triumphant with all of the Trials Of The Gods will be given a “legendary” gift at the end.
