Facebook are creating a secret conversations feature on Messenger

You will be able to make your chats more secretive…

Facebook are rolling out a new feature on Messenger that will allow users to create on-to-one secret conversations that can only be read on one device belonging to the person you’re messaging.

This one-to-one encryption option will mean that if you open the message on your phone, you won’t be able to access it through your Facebook while on desktop.

There will also be an introduction of a timer, similar to Snapchat, which will delete your messages after a set period of time.

The new features will begin rolling out on Friday and Facebook have said it is to facilitate conversations on sensitive topics.

“Secret conversations can only be read on one device and we recognise that experience may not be right for everyone,” Facebook said in the announcement.

The feature will be optional within the app, rather than a default setting.
